STUDENTS from Acton High School showed off their culinary skills at the Rotary Young Chefs Competition.
Competitors were asked to produce a main meal for two people, costing £4.50. Acton High’s four pupils went one step further by creating a main meal, side dish and dessert for the same cost.
The competition, held at Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College, gave them the opportunity to work alongside hospitality and catering staff in an industrial kitchen.
Acton High pupil Liberty Revah-Opacki, 14, said: “It taught me a lot about what it is like to be in a professional kitchen, and how to present my food better. The opportunity was brilliant.”
The final scores were extremely close, with Acton High only a few marks behind the winning team – fellow Acton school, Ellen Wilkinson. All students received a certificate.
