A SOUTHALL pound shop owner has been fined £1,015 after his staff were caught fly-tipping.
Ajit Singh, owner of One Pound Store at 42 South Road, appeared before Ealing magistrates and pleaded guilty to failing to prevent staff from fly-tipping on six occasions in May and June.
They were caught by council officers on CCTV dumping black bags fand cardboard boxes outside a neighbouring business. This was despite enforcement officers previously giving advice and warnings to Singh.
He was fined £100 for each of the offences, was ordered to pay £400 towards council costs and pay a £15 victim surcharge.
Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: “This business owner will think twice before disposing of waste incorrectly again.”
Anyone with any information regarding fly-tipping is urged to contact Grimebusters, Ealing Council’s 24-hour hotline, on 020 8825 8825.
