YOUNGSTERS and older people can enjoy a free swim in the borough for a little while longer.
The popular ‘Swim Free’ scheme for under-16s and over-60s has been running since April last year, and was not due to end until March 2011.
But it has become an early casualty of new austerity measures, with the government pulling the plug on its funding on July 31. Ealing Council has announced it is to extend the scheme until the end of the school holidays on September 5.
Swim Free is available at Acton Swimming Baths, Dormers Well Leisure Centre, Gurnell Leisure Centre and Northolt Leisure Centre.
Swimmers in eligible groups can still enjoy discounted rates after September 5 if they buy a borough Leisure Pass, details at www.ealing.gov.uk/sports
