WALTHAM ABBEY: Car crashes into pub

A MOTORIST has been charged with two motoring offences after his car crashed into a pub in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 20).

A blue-coloured Fiat Stilo collided with the veranda posts of The Plough pub, on Sewardstone Road (A112), Waltham Abbey, at around 2.30am.

A 22-year-old man from east London was arrested a short time later on nearby Mott Street.

He has been charged with failing to to provide a specimen and breath test for analysis, and failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and bailed to appear at Harlow Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 8.

A fire crew from Waltham Abbey spent around an hour helping to clear the accident scene.

A fire spokesman said: "When fire fighters arrived on the scene the vehicle was in a precarious position, but empty.

"The vehicle was made as safe as possible."
