Labour's Joanne McCartney

Labour has taken the lead in all three election contests for Enfield and Haringey.

With 65 per cent of actual votes counted, not only has Mr Livingstone had a surge in votes, Labour are now leading in the race for the constituency seat and the London-wide assembly member.

Mr Livingstone is also ahead in three of the four constituencies being counted at Alexandra Palace which includes Brent and Harrow, North East London (Waltham Forest, Islington and Hackney) and, now, Enfield and Haringey.

Officials have suggested that ballot boxes from Enfield, a Conservative stronghold, may have been counted first and now ballots from Labour-dominated Haringey are being opened helping the Labour candidates to pull ahead.

Labour is also ahead for the position of London-wide Assembly member.
