Artists get a big chance on a discerning stage
FIVE Waltham Forest artists and one from Stratford will have their works presented in a major exhibition.
Terry Kubecki of Walthamstow, Mike Becket of Stratford, Heather Joy of Leyton, Joanna Georgiades, Martin Churchill and Sarah Mitchell, all of Leytonstone, will have their work shown at the 2005 Discerning Eye Exhibition.
Heather Joy has been a professional painter for over 30 years.
She said: "I'm very pleased I was selected. I've never seen an exhibition like this before so I'm looking forward to seeing the variety of work from known and unknown artists.
The exhibition will feature work of small paintings and sculptures produced by artists throughout the UK.
The artists were chosen by a panel of two artists, two art critics and two art collectors who chose work based on their own preferences.
The exhibition is well known for giving artists, who are established or unknown, a platform to showcase their work.
Martin Churchill said: "My two paintings of a female head were chosen for the show. I've sold painting through the exhibition before. It's a good way to have your work seen."
The exhibition will take place from November 17 to November 27 at the Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1. Admission is free.
5:30pm Tuesday 15th November 2005
