Gangs clashed in a Streatham Hill knifefight on Friday night, leaving a 16-year-old boy with slash wounds to his arm.
Police were called to Mount Earl Gardens, Streatham, at 11.15pm, to a fight involving about 40 youths, some armed with knives.
When officers arrived, the group dispersed.
The teenager, from Tulse Hill, received cuts to his arm and was taken to a south London hospital for treatment.
Another boy, 18, also from Tulse Hill, had his forehead cut and was taken to the same hospital.
Officers are investigating the incident, which is believed to be gang-related.
Police are encouraging witnesses, as well as anyone involved, to pass information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The violence follows a non-fatal shooting in the adjacent street, Adare Walk, on the Streatham Hill estate, on July 10.
