Fashion Week came to St Margarets last week, with a charity fashion show that raised more than £900 for research into childhood cancers.
Avid campaigner for Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Mary Regan, organised the event, inviting local mothers to model clothes provided by specialist charity fashion show providers, Catwalk Connections.
Catwalk Connections works with fundraising groups, providing surplus designer stock for the shows.
Mrs Regan, an ambassador for CRUK, held the fashion show to raise money for professors Vaskar Saha and Nazneen Rahman, who are both researchers for CRUK.
Her donations page on the CRUK website is named William’s Group, after her grand nephew, who has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The show, at St Margarets Church on Thursday, February 2, was such a huge success Mrs Regan has already started organising next year’s.
Mrs Regan said: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The models were brilliant and were highly professional - in fact a lot of people thought they were the real thing.
“I am delighted that it was a great success. This event has meant that we have achieved our initial target of £10,000 for CRUK – so our new target is now £20,000.”
