A dog was saved from a house fire in Richmond last week, thanks to brave efforts of firefighters.
The 10-year-old jack russell, called Pippin, ran to hide under a bed when the fire broke out in a bathroom on the first floor.
Her two owners escaped the blaze before the fire crew arrived, but Pippin’s owners told them their beloved pet was still inside the house on Darell Road.
Richmond fire station watch manager Ben Midgley said: “She was so far under the bed we had to lift the bed up to get her out.”
The crew was called just after 5.30pm on Friday, February 3, and arrived a minute after with two fire engines and one specialist investigation team.
The crew managed to save 75 per cent of the first floor, with fire damage only in the bathroom.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
