A devastated mother has paid loving tribute to her son.
Loretta Suen said Charlie, who loved playing football and other sports, would be missed by family and friends who he valued deeply.
She said: “Charlie was a kind, caring, gentle and courageous young man, a loving and much loved brother and son, a true and loyal friend, highly intelligent, genuine, generous, sensitive and shy.”
Mrs Suen said Charlie was brave to seek help and that the only consolation to his family and friends at the time of his death was that he was no longer in pain.
She said: “He may be just another statistic to the NHS, but to us, he was and remains a much loved brother, son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. We miss him terribly, and always will.
“The family requests that family members and friends be left in peace, to mourn our loss.”
Grieving friends have expressed their disbelief at Charles Suen’s death in tributes on his Facebook page.
Jonathan Raimondo said: “Charlie, when I found out, I was in shock, in sorrow. And as I write this, I still feel empty. You were my closest friend. One of the most generous people I will ever meet. You were always there when someone needed a friend, never scared to voice your opinion, and always willing to listen.”
Eleanor Byrd said: “Rest In Peace Charlie. You were such a sweet and clever guy, you’re gonna be missed. My thoughts go out to out your friends&family x”
Sassan Notash said: “RIP mate, so humble and smarter than most.....x”
Charlie’s family and friends have been fundraising in his memory for the Samaritans, who provide emotional support to people experiencing feelings of distress and despair and to people suffering the loss of a loved one.
