A theatre production billed to show in Kingston this June has been cancelled after the tour collapsed.
Harvest was due at the Rose Theatre from June 4 to 13, but producers cancelled the show after two other venues pulled out.
The short notice of the announcement means the theatre cannot replace the entire run but the British Shakespeare Company will perform a Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado About Nothing on June 5 and 6.
Richard Bean’s short Harvest tour had backing from the Arts Council but the withdrawal of venues meant the production was no longer financially feasible.
A theatre spokesman said: “The Rose was committed to the show and we are very disappointed Harvest will no longer be playing.
“This will of course have an impact on sales.”
The theatre refused to release exact sales figures but said all patrons who had booked tickets were being contacted regarding refunds.
