Sutton town centre PCs Dave Earl and Paul Wenham raised more than £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support after taking part in a four-day, 480km cycle ride from London to Paris.

To make it a little more challenging, the officers decided to complete it by tandem.

The officers arrived in Paris on July 7 as part of a 100-strong fundraising cycle group having set off from Blackheath on July 4.

The officers admitted to having lots of bruises in "nasty places", sore legs and a very beaten up tandem.

"However, it was well worth it to raise so much for such an important charity," said PC Earl.

Great achievement but lets have the distance in miles not kms which mean little to many people. At school we used Imperial for everyday measurements and Metric was confined to the science lab where I think it should stay.
