Sutton couple beaten in home invasion

Three masked men burst into a couple’s home and fought with them in their hallway.

The attack happened in Rosebery Gardens, Sutton, on Thursday, January 26.

The couple’s front door bell rang just before 8pm and on opening it three men pushed their way inside.

The 36-year-old woman who opened the door, screamed and was punched in the face.

Her husband, 45, shouted at the intruders to leave and the intruders punched and kicked him to the floor.

The intruders who had their hoods pulled down so only their eyes showed then fled- two of them running towards Benhill Estate and the other towards Lewis Road.

The woman was left with bruising and swelling to her right eye.

The man has bruising and swelling to his jaw and to the left side of his face and chest.

Detective Constable Steve Newman, of Sutton’s burglary and robbery investigation team, said he believed this may have been a random attack or the wrong property may have been targeted.

He said: "There were no weapons seen, no property taken and no demands made."

The three men are described as black and all wearing black hooded jackets which were used to cover their faces.

One is aged 16-19, about 5ft 4in tall and of slim build; the other two are aged 20-26; about 6ft 2in tall and of slim build.

One of these taller suspects was described as having large round eyes.
