School children were given tips by police on how to stay safe on public transport.
Youngsters at Camden Junior School in Camden Road, Carshalton, were given tips about how to stay safe on London’s buses and Tube trains at a joint presentation on Friday, February 3 by Transport for London (TfL) and Sutton’s safer transport police team.
In front of a huge backdrop of the inside of a London bus and an inflatable Tube car, the Year 6 pupils were given a wide range of advice.
The children were presented with a number of potentially dangerous scenarios including coping with threatening behaviour on the top deck of a bus, waiting for busy transport, and walking between Tube cars whilst the Tube train is moving.
Miss Clare Murray, a Year 6 teacher at the school, said: "It’s important for children to prepare for going up to High School when they may be required to use public transport for the first time without their parents accompanying them."
