Julie Mead and her daughter, Caroline, were on their way home to Wallington when the coach came crashing towards them on Carshalton High Street.

Mrs Mead, 47, of Hillside Gardens, said: “At first I thought the coach was overtaking but then it kept coming.

“It hit the car in front of us first then it pushed it into us and pushed us sideways.

“We thought we would end up in the pond.

“My daughter was trapped in the passenger seat by the other car. She fainted as soon as we pulled her out.

“I went into shock but luckily this lovely couple picked her up and and took her to the other side of the road.

“I would like to thank them but I don't know who they were.”

Caroline, 17, has suffered from whip lash and soft tissue damage to her stomach, caused by the seat belt. Both she and Mrs Mead are also suffering from headaches and nausea.

Mrs Mead said: “The worst bit is afterwards thinking 'what if'.

“We drove along the high street yesterday because we said we've got to do it but my daughter asked that we go in the opposite direction.

“It was horrible. She sat there in complete silence and I could feel myself welling up.”
