The Government postponing its announcement on whether it will increase flights at Heathrow, by either building a third runway or abolishing runway alteration, has not stopped campaigners fighting expansion.
The National Climate march, part of a global day of action, set off from Grosvenor Square at noon today before descending on Parliament Square.
As well as fighting against a third runway at Heathrow demonstrators also demanded no new coal fired power stations be built, no further expansion of agrofuels and yes to the renewable energy revolution.
Richmond Park MP Susan Kramer who was marching at the demo, said: "This shows the whole consultation as it is called is completely flawed. I hope against hope [the delay] means that the govenment has finally come to its senses but I fear that this is just another red herring."
John Stewart, a member of HACAN, said: "Organisers are expecting between 5,000 and 10,00 people. By lookign around the number of people from the Heathrow area is quite high but there would have been more had htis solely been about Heathrow.
"The support from Richmond, Hounslow, Hillingdon and Wandsworth has been fantastic and they have that extra mile for the campaign."

Other speakers included Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, Green party leader, Caroline Lucas, former environment minister Michael Meacher and the honorary president of the Campaign against Climate Change George Monbiot.
The march marks the middle Saturday of the UN climate talks in Poznan, Poland.
