A fire forced residents from a block of flats to evacuate in the middle of the night while firefighters tackled the blaze in Wandsworth.
The incident happened at about 2.30am this morning at Wentworth Court in Garratt Lane.
Firefighters received reports of six residents in the block of flats, but on arrival discovered at least 17 adults and children needing to be evacuated.
The fire had started in a storage cupboard on the second floor. Appliances from Tooting, Battersea and Wandsworth were on hand to douse the flames.
A small number of residents were treated by the London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation but none needed hospital treatment.
The cause of the blaze is unknown and is being investigated by police and fire investigation units.
