A senior police officer was attacked by a gang and hit with a brick while out West Molesey with his wife and son.
The Met Police confirmed today that Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson, 49, who is deputy chief of Operation Trident, which investigates gun crime in black communities, was targeted by youths in Faraday Road.
The attack happened just after midnight on Sunday, October 12, when four youths approached the family.
Two of them hurled abuse so Mr Richardson confronted them but was hit on the back of the head with a brick.
He turned around and blocked several blows from one of the youths but was then hit in the back.
Two men, aged 20 and 19 and and a girl, 15, all from West Molesey, were arrested along with a 17-year-old girl from Wimbledon.
Mr Richardson was taken to Kingston Hospital suffering from minor injuries to his head, left arm and back and the suspects have been bailed until Saturday, December 20.
