A fashion designer drawing on Asian and Africa influences will display her work on the global stage during the London Fashion Week.

Working under the name Zionb, the Croydon designer launched her label Blessed Zion in 2011 and has been given the chance to display at Somerset House during the international event beginning February 17.

She said: "It is a great opportunity for us to get individuals and top companies seeing our work. This was the third time I had applied to be involved in the Fashion Week so I guess it was a case of third time lucky."

The 34-year-old, who prides herself on employing Croydon seamstresses, tailors and models hopes it could launch the company.

She said: "I have been in and out of fashion but if there isn’t work there you have to drop it. I started work recreating vintage clothing but began to get commission to create specific garments. It all progressed from there."

After travelling through Africa and Asia perfecting her craft the label was launched in summer 2011 and she had her first exhibit showcasing the work at Coulsdon Manor in December.

Completely self-funded, she now hopes to land a lucrative contract to go on producing work.
