  • "Oh, that is a shame. Deptford has always been a place of creativity and artistry. I appreciate that progress had to happen, but don't take away the character of deptford and deprive the people who make it so a chance to make a living."

Deptford Faircharm Estate plans to go on show

The Faircharm Estate The Faircharm Estate

CONTROVERSIAL plans to redevelop an old factory now used by Deptford artists and small businesses are going on show for two days.

The Faircharm Estate in Creekside has become a popular place for creative businesses to set up in recent years.

But now site owner Workspace has plans to demolish the buildings, replacing them with new homes and commercial space.

Current businesses have expressed concern over the proposals, as has Lewisham Deptford MP Joan Ruddock.

And the situation has been complicated by Lewisham Council's recent decision to make Creekside a Conservation Area, protecting some of its unique features.

To see the proposals, visit units 8 to 12 of the estate on July 11 from 6pm to 9pm or July 12 from 3pm to 8pm.
