Pair in court over Prabjot Singh Rayat murder

A MAN and woman have appeared in court charged with the murder of dad-of-three Prabjot Singh Rayat in Thamesmead.

The body of Mr Rayat, from Pickford Lane, Bexleyheath, was found at his Rayat Autos business on an industrial estate in Nathan Way, Thamesmead, early on June 8.

A post-mortem examination held on May 9 at Greenwich Mortuary gave the 54-year-old's cause of death as a stab wound.

Robert Burrows, aged 33, of Dylan Road, Belevdere, and Surinder Chana, aged 44, of Lower Park Road, Belvedere, were both charged yesterday with his murder.

They appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court today and were remanded in custody for an Old Bailey hearing on September 21.
