Councillors asked to look again at Charlton Lido proposals
COUNCILLORS have been asked to look again at the £3m new plans for Charlton lido.
As News Shopper revealed this month, Greenwich Council leader Cllr Chris Roberts has agreed that £375,000 grant be awarded to Greenwich Leisure Ltd (GLL) for the long-delayed project.
But Greenwich Conservatives have called-in the decision for a meeting on Wednesday evening, questioning the new plans and financial circumstances.
They said: "We would like to be certain that the decision is sound and the finances are in place - unlike in the previous plans - prior to this decision being confirmed.’ A previous scheme for a 35m deep-pool diving centre had been proposed by Open Water Ltd who were unable to see it through.
But the council insists the central proposal of creating a 50m heated lido remains the same in GLL's scheme - the first phase of which is scheduled to be complete by July.
