ONE of the main roads through Eltham will be closed until next week due to a burst water main.
Thames Water moved into Well Hall Road yesterday (March 18) to tackle the leak and claims work should last until next Tuesday.
The emergency repairs mean Well Hall Road will be closed between the Well Hall roundabout and Prince Rupert Road.
Residents say the problem has been ongoing since Monday and the leaking water has made at least four holes in the road and pavement.
Mother-of-one Julie Broughton said: “One of the holes has been getting bigger and bigger and must be about 5ft wide.”
A spokesman for Thames Water said: "We apologise for the inconvenience this road closure is causing.
"The leak was reported to us on March 17 and we began repairs on March 18.
"We are working as quickly as possible and hope to have the road reopened next Tuesday."
