A CHARITY worker has received a prestigious award for his work involvement in major arts projects across north Kent.
Gurvinder Sandher, director of the Kent Equality Cohesion Council, was recognised as a ‘London 2012 Cultural Champion’ and was presented with his award by civic society MP Nick Hurd.
The Dartford and Gravesham Festival of Light, the Saint George’s Day celebrations in Gravesend and the Gravesham Big Day Out are among Gurvinder’s creations.
Gurvinder said: “I’m very proud to have received this award from Mr Hurd who complimented me on my work and encouraged me to keep it up.
“I’ve always felt the arts is a good way to bring diverse communities together and I look forward to showcasing this at our biggest ever Saint Georges Day celebrations this year.”
Gravesham Council nominated Gurvinder for the award having worked alongside him on many of his projects.
The Kent Equality Cohesion Council aims to reduce inequality and promote good relations between the diverse communities across Kent.
