A TEENAGER from Swanscombe is hoping to hip-hop her way to £250,000 on a television talent show.

East London-based Unity UK got through to the semi-finals of Sky 1 show Got to Dance after performing to a medley of tracks by grime star Kano which left the judges nearly forgetting their Ps and Qs Group member, 17-year-old Molly Boulding said: “We got an amazing response from the judges.

“Hopefully we have got a really big chance of making the final if we work hard.

“We have been rehearsing almost every single day. We have been working on a good set - I can’t wait to perform it.”

The 11-strong group of 16 to 25-year-olds was put together by its choreographer Tashan Muir, 24, in 2006.

Molly said: “I’m the newest member. Tashan saw me at a show about a year and a half ago and asked if I wanted to join.”

The Northfleet School for Girls A-Level student who got into dance aged 11 after attending a show with her older sister Amy, 18, described the group as ‘like a family’.

She said: “It would mean more than anything to win. The prize is a quarter of a million pounds – at the moment we have got to pay to rent a studio in east London. My train fare is £20 a day to go to train. That money could really help Unity to become bigger and better.”

See Unity UK compete in their semi-final from 6pm on February 26 on Sky 1.

SIDEBAR – What the judges said Actor Adam Garcia said: “I’ve never seen anything so quick and so precise and so together. Raw. It literally lifted me out of my seat. That is a performance that will blow people away.”

Former Pussycat Doll, Kimberly Wyatt said: “I’m a little speechless. That was crazy. You scared me.

“That is representing street the way I want to see it. That was aggressive.”

Leader of Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity, Ashley Banjo: “An original concept and a brave concept. Doing grime and attacking it. It’s fast and tight but you guys did it brilliantly. You kept it sharp and clean. Ridiculous.”
