Seven people arrested in connection with murder of teenager in Downham

A FURTHER seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a teenager in Downham, bringing the total to 10.


Police officers were called to Launcelot Road at 4am yesterday morning (August 1) to reports of a 16-year-old suffering a stab wound to the chest.


Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended but the victim died at the scene at 5:11am.


The seven latest arrests were made following raids by police on addresses in Deptford and Edgware, North West London.


Two males and a female were detained at an address in Deptford while four males were arrested in Edgware.


Of the seven, three remain in custody while four were bailed yesterday evening (August 1), pending further enquiries.


Three males, aged between 16 and 18, were arrested close to the scene of the crime but were released with no further action being taken.


The victim’s next of kin have been informed but formal identification awaits.


A post mortem is scheduled to take place at Greenwich Mortuary at 2pm this afternoon (August 2).
