AN ARGUMENT about a cigarette could have led to the stabbing of a Bromley College student in his buttocks, an eyewitness has said.
The 19-year-old victim was taken to hospital at about 12.40pm after being stabbed in the buttocks at the college in Rookery Lane, Bromley Common.
His injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
An 18-year-old A-level student, who did not want to be named, says he saw 90 per cent of the incident.
He said: “Five black guys started on a big white guy about a cigarette.
“They pushed him against a car and said ‘You melted?’ “I think I heard something about a cigarette and they said ‘are you melted?’”
After the victim was stabbed he is said to have staggered back into the college’s reception.
Police and ambulance were called to the scene and the entrance to nearby Norman Park was taped off.
Public services student Ryan Reed, 17, said: "I was surprised because at first I thought it was just a rumour.
"Then I assumed it was a stabbing when I saw the police cars and the police tape."
Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
A Bromley College spokesman said: "A 19-year-old male, who is a student at Bromley College, has today received a non life-threatening wound and is being treated at a local hospital.
"Our thoughts are with the student and his family.
"At Bromley College, the safety of our students is of paramount importance, and we are cooperating fully with the police in this investigation.
"We are aware that three arrests in connection with this incident have been made today."
