TWO pupils have received an award for raising road safety awareness at their school.
Year 6 pupils Tom Harris, 10, and Hannah Fruin, 11, from Warren Road Primary School, were presented with the Junior Road Safety Officer certificate by Bromley Council’s road safety team.
They also received tickets to see the Chinese State Circus, donated by the Churchill Theatre in Bromley.
Tom and Hannah gave presentations and organised competitions to highlight dangers in road crossing and motorist visibility for the 840 children at their school on Warren Drive, Orpington.
They also monitored and shared their work with other junior road safety officers in the borough using a website specifically designed for participating schools to swap ideas and information.
Pupils from more than 40 primary schools in Bromley took part in the Junior Road Safety Officer scheme which encourages pupils, elected by teachers and peers, to invent creative ways to promote road safety.
