BRINGING a heritage centre to Biggin Hill has moved a step closer after the council approved the release of £64,000 in funding.
The money will be used to prepare a detailed business plan to build a centre within the RAF enclave, next to the Memorial Chapel in Main Road.
The centre plans to house digital displays, artefacts and interactive technology to remember the role Biggin Hill played in pioneering wireless communication and in the Battle of Britain.
Bromley Council's portfolio holder for renewal and recreation Councillor Peter Morgan said: "It is important to honour the memory of what these pilots did for Britain and this site, with its rich heritage, gives us the perfect opportunity.
"This historic area has a vital story to tell and a heritage centre will do much to benefit the entire community with an attraction for local people and visitors. This way, the heroism of the servicemen will never be forgotten."
