PEOPLE in Bromley are being urged to drop off scam mail.
The four ‘Scamnesty’ drop in bins will be in the borough up until February 26.
It has been organised by Bromley Council’s Trading Standards team, with the aim of gathering useful information to help crack down on the senders of scam mail.
Scam mail is generally made up of letters which promise large lottery wins which are often from abroad, and request a processing or administration fee to be sent for residents to claim their ‘winnings’.
Such prizes do not exist and the money is rarely recovered.
The bins are located at Bromley Central Library in the High Street, Orpington Library in Church Hill, Biggin Hill Library in Main Road and Beckenham Library in Beckenham Road.

The scheme's not going to last long enough - it'll have to be to at least 6th May to catch all the scam mail from the Labour party, promising riches that will never be delivered.
