Initiative to stop elderly getting lonely launched in Bexley
OLDER people need not get lonely, thanks to a new initiative in Bexley.
Charity Advocacy for All has launched the Bigger Voices Better Lives project, funded by Bexley Council, which provides inclusion and prevents social isolation for older people by work on befriending, social opportunities and speaking up groups.
Project coordinator Teresa Mcfarlane said: “We recognise that everyone needs other people, but not everyone has someone, this exciting new project aims to support older people to find a new direction in life and will open up a range of activities that will lead to an increase in confidence and self-esteem.”
A launch event was held at Danson Youth Centre on Wednesday (June 13) for care providers to find out more, refer people and for people to volunteer.
