Five-year-old girl in critical condition following Erith car crash

A FIVE-year-old girl from Erith is in a critical but stable condition following a two vehicle-crash.

Police were called to Northend Road on Thursday (April 19) at 4:10pm to an incident involving a Hyundai Getz and an articulated lorry.

The 45-year-old driver of the Volvo lorry, who came from the Tyne and Wear area, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of careless driving.

He was later bailed until June, pending further enquiries.

London’s Air Ambulance treated the child at the scene for head injuries and she was taken by helicopter to the Royal London Hospital.

She has since been transferred to another hospital.

Long delays were experienced on Northend Road, particularly in the area close to the junction with Thames Road where the accident happened.
