Police offer £20,000 reward to catch killer of minicab driver Michael Okonko-Nwoso

DETECTIVES are offering a reward of up to £20,000 in an attempt to catch the killers of a minicab driver in Abbey Wood.

On June 19 2010 at 4.55am Michael Okonko-Nwoso was found collapsed in Cookhill Road, lying by his silver Ford Galaxy (ND52 DJX).

The doors of the vehicle were open but valuable items such as a Sat-Nav were still in the car.

Mr Okonko-Nwoso, a married father-of-two from Plumstead, was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries but died later that day.

Officers continue to appeal for help in identifying a person who was seen in the area around the time of the 49-year-old's death, who was caught on CCTV in nearby Eynsham Drive.

Detective Chief Inspector Charles King, who is leading the investigation for the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "Almost two years on from Michael's death we are no closer to establishing a motive for his murder.

"However, what we do know is that Michael was a law-abiding, hardworking family man who died whilst going about his everyday business.

"He has left behind his wife Catherine and two young daughters who are devastated without him.

"We know that he was in the Sewell Road area shortly after 4.30am on the day he died.

"We are still very keen to speak to anybody who was in Sewell Road or Cookhill Road any time between 4am and 5am.

"I am still particularly keen to speak to a man captured on CCTV running along the parade of shops between 4.42am and 4.44am in Eynsham Drive, Abbey Wood, around the time Michael was injured as they may have vital information.

"I would urge anyone who recognises the man to contact the police."

Between June 19 2010 and January 19 last year four men, aged 19, 27, 28 and 34 were arrested in connection with the investigation. They have all be released with no further action.
