POLICE have been cracking down on the use and supply of drugs in Crayford.
Drugs have become a priority policing issue in the area and the safer neighbourhoods team has been carrying out a series of operations.
These included testing customers at the Bear and Ragged Staff pub in Crayford High Street for traces of drugs, using a new state-of-the-art machine with the support of the pub.
Seven people tested positive for controlled drugs and one person was arrested for possessing cocaine.
Police also used five search warrants and in one case a man was given an official police warning after two bags of cannabis were found.
In recent months police have also closed down a cannabis factory in the town, arrested four people and charged one after the discovery of white powder and arrested another suspect after the discovery of cannabis and blue capsules.
Sergeant Neil Stevenson, who heads the Crayford policing team, said: “There is a link between drug misuse and other crimes.
“Together with our partner agencies, we are committed to tackling the problem.”
