Wasps takeover deal nearing completion

Wasps takeover deal nearing completion Wasps takeover deal nearing completion

A TAKEOVER deal for Wasps rugby club has moved a step closer after contracts for the sale were exchanged.

A consortium led by former player Ken Moss has been looking to buy the club from current owner Steve Hayes.

They first made their move at the beginning of May when another proposal fell through, and after weeks of negotiations the deal looks set to be completed.

The club confirmed today that contracts between the two parties have been exchanged and full completion of the deal is set to take place in mid July.

In a statement the club said: “London Wasps are delighted to confirm that contracts have been exchanged on the sale of the Club to a new consortium headed up by former player Ken Moss, with full completion expected to take place in mid-July.

“Full details of the new ownership and future plans will be outlined once the deal is fully completed.

“The Club’s priority is now on ensuring the deal is complete within this timeframe as well as finalising arrangements for the Club’s future structure and operations.”

The takeover was first mooted after news broke in April that Wasps could go into administration and suffer possible relegation because of their financial problems.

Another consortium led by Barnet FC chairman Tony Kleanthous made a bid to take over the club but the deal collapsed.

This is good news. Hopefully we'll have a sports team in the area after Wanderers fold.

Marvellous news - and a long time in coming. I hope it remains stable for the club for many years to come

I strongly suspect that the new owners of Wasps will have plans to move their club back to London.

So lets hope Wanderers don't fold, especially in their 125th year of representing Wycombe.

London Wasps have only been here for 9 years so shouldn't be too badly missed and you should still be able to see them when they move back to London, or if it's local Rugby you want there's always HWRUFC .

I thought it was mentioned recently that a new stadium location "within 10 minutes of Adams Park" was being investigated? http://www1.skysport

The Towns long term sporting ambassadors the 'Wanderers' are back in the arms of its supporters and Town folk. So it will soon be time for the Johnny come latelys and Billy bandwagon jumpers, to pull up their squelching chinos and poodle of back to London.

Your sporting ambassadors wouldn't exist if Wasps hadn't been here and they have a far greater fan base than Wanderers have so your pathetic 'Johnny Come Lately and Billy Bandwagon jibe is shameful!
Typical ignorant comment from ill-informed blinkered people.

You can always put your Wasps shirt in your latest Fad draw, alongside your rubik cube and Acid house T-shirt.
