Guided walk in Stanmore Common later this month

A guided walk will be held in Stanmore Common later this month, as part of the Bluebell Heath project.

The conservation project, backed by the Heritage Lottery Fund, is working to remove secondary growth in Bluebell Heath, to restore it to an area of flower-rich grassland.

Warden Simon Braidman will share his expertise, pointing out special plants of interest such as the Heath Spotted Orchid and the Hard Fern.

Bluebell Heath Project manager, Stephen Bolsover, will also be on hand to talk about the history of Stanmore Common.

There will be interesting objects for children to handle, and more information will be provided on the project and its aims.

The walk will start on Sunday, July 22, at 10.30am, in Stanmore Common car park, lasting about 2 hours.

For more information, call Stephen Bolsover on 07794 837302.
