A 61-year-old from Colindale is waging war on “dangerous” pavements after tripping and injuring himself.
Robert Gould, from Goldsmith Avenue, Colindale, is gathering signatures for a petition to persuade Brent Council to repair the pavements in Edgware Road.
Mr Gould is planning to visit as many local shops and businesses as possible to gather signatures.
He said: “The pavements are unlevel and they are all uneven. It is very dangerous.
“A friend of mine also fell over recently and had to go to hospital. She was in a bad way.
“I think the pavements are bad everywhere. Someone needs to do something about this.”
The party shop worker fell after tripping over a loose paving stone six weeks ago.
He injured his knees, elbow and wrists and, six weeks on, is still having a make regular trips to hospital to have his injuries treated.
Mr Gould said: “I am really angry about this because I know that the pavements have not been serviced in all the time I have lived here.
“I have been in the area for ten or 15 years and nothing has been done in all that time.”
In a statement Barnet Council said: “Although the damaged pavement is located on the Brent side of the A5, Barnet Council has an agreement in place to respond to reports on both sides of the borough boundary.
"This particular case was passed to our highways team from Brent late last night and will be mended this afternoon or first thing tomorrow morning.”

How about you pick your feet up and/or look where you're going? Or sign a pledge to pay more council tax.
do you actually pay council tax yourself because if you do you would know how high it is & not harp on about someone paying more to avoid an accident.
Mr Gould is clearly concerned about other members of the public not just himself hence the petition

Although Barnet's Chief Engineer said it was likely to collapse and dangerous, they still allowed traffic to use the road without any safety precautions for ELEVEN months.
How's that for "Duty of Care" ?
