Cllr Susan Hall to take charge of Harrow Tories

A PROMINENT Harrow politician has been elected as the new leader of the Tory group.

Councillor Susan Hall (Hatch End) will take over in charge of the party in May when current leader David Ashton steps down from the council.

Cllr Hall, currently deputy leader of the council, defeated communications supremo Cllr Paul Osborn in a secret ballot of Tory councillors this afternoon.

And if the Tories retain their majority on Harrow Council, Cllr Hall is now in line to have overall control of the council.

Cllr Barry MacLeod-Cullinane, (Belmont) who is currently portfolio holder for adults and housing, has been elected as deputy leader, and will take up the role vacated by Cllr Hall after the local elections in May.

Poor Cllr Osborn, he seems like a decent chap - but twice he came against the sudden and sustained rise of Hall - amazingly in only her first term as Councillor, against many experienced and wise heads, but alas twice he was swept aside without a problem.

Good luck to Hall and commiseration to Osborn.
