COPS are hunting for a man who tried and failed to hold up two bookie in Wembley yesterday.
The would-be robber, thought to be armed with a handgun, burst into William Hill in Harrow Rd, at around 5.30pm, and demanded to be let behind the counter to raid the tills.
When staff refused, he headed to another William Hill, in Heather Park Parade, and branished a gun at cashiers.
Once again, cashiers refused to let him at the tills, and he fled the scene shortly before police arrived.
The man, in his 20s, was wearing a woolly hat and a thick brown three-quarter length coat during the two failed raids.
Detective Constable Dawn Bolitho, from the Met's Flying Squad, who is heading the investigation, urged witnesses to come forward.
She said: “We need to identify this man. Tuesday was a hot day, and anyone wearing a thick coat and pulling on a woolly hat would have looked out of place.”
Anyone with information can contact DC Bolitho on 0208 358 1751, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
