Man dies following house fire in Edmonton

A 48-year-old man has died following a house fire yesterday afternoon.

The emergency services were called to Martin Close in Edmonton at 5.05pm following reports of a fire.

The man was taken to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital by air ambulance suffering from severe burns and smoke inhalation.

He died at 12.30am.

A post mortem will be scheduled in due course.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
