An exhibition exploring the borough’s sporting history has opened in Enfield Town.
The Our Sporting Life exhibition at the Dugdale Centre in London Road displays photographs and memorabilia from past events in Enfield – including a collection of programmes, posters and newspaper articles from the 1948 London Olympic Games.
Enfield’s historic sporting venues include the Walker Cricket Ground in Southgate, which has been used for sport for more than 150 years, and the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium in Donkey Lane, which has recently gone through a £6million refurbishment.
Councillor Bambos Charalambous, cabinet member for culture, said the exhibition was “fantastic”.
He added: “It’s interesting to see how the changes in the borough throughout history have influenced our love of sport and led to us developing such fine venues today.”
