Quick-thinking firefighters used bales of hay and rope to rescue a horse from a ditch this morning.
Around ten firefighters were called to Wharf Road, Enfield, at 5am, where the white mare was struggling to clamber out of the 5ft-deep hole.
The ingenious crew built a ramp using bales of hay and strapped a harness onto the horse before carefully pulling her to safety at 7.15am.
A spokeswoman for the London Fire Brigade said: “The horse was frightened and reluctant to come out. But she was set free and joined other horses nearby.”
