Students from an Enfield primary school burnt 60 cardboard houses on Thursday to re-enact the great fire of London.
The Year Two pupils from Worcesters Primary School in Goat Lane spent two days working with visiting artist Joe Robinson to make models of 17th Century houses, churches and St Paul’s Cathedral.
Mr Robinson, from Enfield Town, said: “If you teach people how to deal with fire in a safe way they actually start to understand it and begin to respect it.
“They were in awe when the models were being burnt. It was just amazing and even the teachers were saying that the kids’ reaction was something unexpected.”
The children have been learning about the great fire of London, which broke out in September 1666, as part of this term’s project.
Havin Cagiran, a Year Two pupil, said: "I forgot about everything, school, my classmates, everything, because it felt like I'd been transported back in time to London in 1666."
