Public meeting over controversial North Circular Area Action Plan

A public meeting and exhibition into the future of the area around the North Circular Road will be held in Palmers Green today.

The meeting at Trinity-at-Bowes Church in Palmerston Road between 11am-3pm today will consult with residents about the long-term regeneration of the area.

The North Circular Area Action Plan will map out the future of areas of Bounds Green, Palmers Green, Bowes, and New Southgate, for the next couple of decades.

However, Enfield Council has come under fire for not doing enough to publicise it and engage with the public.

The Enfield Independent revealed last month that the plans were not publicised on the council's website and the document had not been put on display in all the libraries in the affected area.

Shame that the existence of the meeting and exhibition is still NOT given prominence on LBEnfield web site at 10:35 on Saturday 4th...too little; too late!

Local residents who are tenants of Notting Hill Housing Trust who expected an opportunity to meet and greet their landlord were disappointed as Notting Hill Housing Trust "bottled out" and did NOT turn up; what did turn up were two A2 size poster boards from NHHT but not until three hours after the event opened

Ken Barnett, Project Director of Nottinghill Housing Trust has identified that NHHT was planning a PRE-APPLICATION PUBLIC CONSULTATION at Trinity at Bowes Church, Palmerston Road on 16th and 17th March 2012 for the following sites:
• Bowes Road/Telford Road
• Bowes Road from Powys Lane to
Broomfield Road
• Green Lanes/North Circular Road Junction
• Wilmer Way/Bowes Road

Ken Barnett has been asked to explain why the Birchwood Court/Melville Gardens site does not appear in the consultation list and whether NHHT will be asking Matthew Brewer of CGMS to withdraw the premature planning applications submitted earlier in January 2012, namely
