OVER a hundred volunteers who had given over a hundred hours of their time to good causes were honoured on Monday.
Volunteers with 3rd Enfield Air Scout Group, Enfield Sea Cadets, disability and groups, Enfield Mental Health Users Group, libraries and community transport services, were given certificates and badges to reward their efforts by Enfield Mayor Eleftherios Savva and former Tottenham Hotspurs footballer Ossie Ardiles in a reception at the Civic Centre.
Linda Greenfield, a Support Services Co-ordinator for Enfield Association for the Blind, described volunteers as the “lifeblood” of the organisation.
She said: “We rely on our remarkable team of volunteers to deliver support services to blind and partially sighted people throughout Enfield. These projects include our home visiting service, hospital eye clinic, resource centre and delivering a radio service, Wireless for the Blind to people. We’re delighted that our volunteers were honoured.”
Enfield Council’s Enterprise Director, Sue Foster said: “Volunteers make an enormous contribution to organisations throughout the borough. We want to thank them publicly for the immense good they do and the example that they set. To give freely without expecting anything more than the knowledge that you have helped another person really deserves our thanks.”
