CREATIVE pupils from an Enfield school transformed their classrooms into a giant art installation yesterday.
Polystyrene sculptures, soundscapes, slideshows, role-plays and a Big Brother-esque diary room to record feedback packed the rooms and corridors of Keys Meadow Primary School, in Tyfoe Avenue.
The children, aged four to 11, have been working on the project since January as part of a Government scheme to bring more creativity into the curriculum.
Four professional artists, including a musician and storyteller, assisted the youngsters in making their creations, which were split into four themed zones.
The Wish You Were Here zone focused on travel, the Whispering Trees zone was filled with soundscapes of music and voices, the In the Beginning zone examined the past, and the Once Upon a Time area delved into storytelling.
Jane Blackbarrow, area leader for creative education at the school, said: "It's been absolutely fantastic. The artists worked with the children to use different creative media to inspire writing, and it was a huge success.
"The children had big grins on their faces as they pulled their parents around to show them their work.
"It is incredible to see the amount of work created. And it's not dry work, but a rich, colourful, creative curriculum, which gives the children a love for learning and a reason to write and take risks."
