SPEEDING drivers in Enfield risk being shot down by school pupils today.
Youngsters from Merryhills Primary School, in Bincote Road, will join officers from Highlands Safer Neighbourhood Team and Enfield Council to stop drivers from racing part their school gates.
The 20 children will point speed guns at passing cars and those found to be driving above the 20mph limit will be stopped and spoken to about the dangers of speeding.
The police and pupils will ask drivers questions and tell them facts about road safety.
Laura Nastri, road safety officer for Enfield Council, said: “There is a 20mph limit because there are three schools along this road, and yet many drivers still drive too fast.
“Giving children an opportunity to get involved with stopping motorists who are speeding, and to be able to talk to them about their behaviour, is an effective way to moderate driver behaviour.
“A lot of drivers speed without thinking, but we want people to realise how dangerous it can be to go too fast, especially in built up areas or by schools."
