A SERIES of workshops and presentations to raise awareness of adult abuse are taking place in Enfield later this month.

The sessions, held from March 22 to 26, aim to encourage people who are experiencing abuse or who have witnessed it to come forward.

They have been organised by Enfield Safeguarding Adults Board, which represents several adult protection agencies and organisations, as part of Adult Abuse Awareness Week.

The theme of the event this year is "helping people to recognise, prevent and report abuse".

Enfield councillor Edward Smith, cabinet member for social services, said: “It is vital each and every one of us keep our eyes and ears open to the possibility that a vulnerable adult in our society is being abused or neglected in some way.

“Many people are abused by those who are closest to them and those who they trust."

Anyone who suspects someone they know is being abused or neglected is advised to contact the Enfield Adult Abuse Line on on 020 8379 5212.

Anyone requiring assistance to attend any of the events can phone 020 8379 4432 or email safeguardingadults@enfield.gov.uk.
