Nearly 90 people braved the cold weather to hear a lecture marking Holocaust Memorial Day yesterday evening.
Despite the freezing conditions, people turned up to hear Professor Antony Polonsky give his lecture on the Holocaust in Lithuania and Poland at Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue, in Gateshead Road.
David Harrisberg who helped organise the event said: “We’re really pleased with how the event went. We thought with the snow we would be lucky to get 20 people, and we're delighted so many turned up.
“The lecture was very informative and we had a great mix of people in the audience.”
People from Borehamwood attended the event as well as those from Edgware, other areas of North London and also representatives from the Elstree and Borehamwood Parish.
The lecture, entitled The Holocaust in Poland and Lithuania, Coming to Terms with a Dark Past, focused on the process the two counties have been through in coming to terms with the events from 1941 to 1945.
