RAISING £500 for a London children's ward was a snip for caring Borehamwood hairdressers on Sunday.

Dressed in fairytale costumes or pyjamas, the six staff at Toni&Guy, in Shenley Road, donated their earnings from the day's 11 cuts and colourings to Kings College Hospital's Variety Club Children’s Ward.

The charitable Red Riding Hoods and Cinderellas also sold homemade fairycakes, while lucky clients won haircuts, treatments and hair products through a raffle or a 'pop a balloon' game.

Manager Agnes Fulep said: "We were really busy, and lots of children came to join in.

"It was a brilliant success. We're definitely going to do it again next year and push the boundaries even further."

The day's takings go towards the last £50,000 of The Toni&Guy Charitable Foundation's £700,000 pledge to refurbish the ward, which specialises in treating children with sickle cell anaemia, cystic fibrosis, diabetes and leukaemia.
